Nelson Arts is a small graphic arts studio dedicated to helping businesses tap into their personal creativity and appropriately communicate their message through print advertising, web design and other graphic imagery.

I focus on the needs of the client and strive to develop a design concept that reflects the style of the business. I achieve this by personal communication and extensive research of the business and products related. Because of this, I am able to develop successful design solutions in a variety of areas from the equine industry to the automotive industry.

My emphasis is on artistic representations with a minimalist approach. “Less is more.”

I work with a variety of software programs including; Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop. These programs enable me to meet most needs of graphic development.

I am a work at home mother with a toddler that keeps me running when I am not at work in my office. Because of my arrangement, I am able to offer reasonable rates and allow small businesses, on a budget, to produce quality graphic or web work.

History

My graphic experience began at Bemidji State University and prepared me for a job at Kingswood Press, a small print shop in New Hampshire. There, I was able to learn every aspect of the printing industry from the darkroom to the press floor. After several years, I joined Nautilus Design, a graphic design/advertising agency in Wolfeboro Hew Hampshire. Here I was involved in corporate indentity development and annual report design. Nautilus Design eventually moved their business to Florida and, unable to relocate, I took a job at a furniture store that evolved to a manager position. While working there, I continued my graphic work on a freelance basis and was able to produce print, radio and television advertising for the store.

I moved back to Minnesota in 1999 and decided to pursue my life long desire to work with horses. I learned to be careful what I wished for. I managed an Oldenburg breeding farm with 40+ horses and rode from sunrise to sunset for three years.

In 2003 My daughter arrived and made it difficult to continue in the horse industry. Returning to graphics seemed to be the most logical and practical transition. I then began to dedicate my time to learning programs and updating my technical knowledge. My web development skills are completely self taught which enable me to produce web sites that are original and not necessarily bound by industry standards. I start with a good design and then make it work as a web site that provides functionality for the client. I don't believe in a lot of bells and whistles and choose not to use flash elements. I purposely limit the number of clients I take on so as to dedicate 100 percent of my focus on the job at hand.

In closing, I am very dedicated to my work, I believe in good communication and a quick return on the client's product. I always provide itemized invoices so you know exactly what you are paying for. Please contact me if you have further questions.
